I really appreciate this discussion, and anyone who is seeing this on various dev trackers should come in and read the whole last half of the thread.

Like I said before, I was lucky enough to have a couple of coders patiently sit down and explain to me in various ways exactly how these distribution models work. Players of all sorts of games of chance have often "blamed the dice" and an understanding that an 8% drop rate (say) can provide a very wide amount of hits and misses that makes YOUR results look off will help ease the pain of such rarity.
