Please answer this question to the best of your knowledge, Cylus.

Why did the team opt to leave the city life so "lifeless"? I just don't understand why a lot of the NPC's just sit there. I know the game isn't finished, but does Sigil plan to change anything in the cities like this? NPC's interacting, running around, having conversations... ect. Thanks for reading, if you do.

P.S. Sorry for hijacking the thread.

I've had dynamic conversation triggers and scripts set up for a long time (ie, NPC happens to stroll by another one, they'll talk to each other for a random amount of time and then continue on their way).

One of the big problems is that the player's client has to load all of those animations. So, if you're strolling around a large city and many of the NPCs are chatting with one another, smoking a pipe or shooing a fly away, all of those animations have to be loaded by the player's client. Everyone is obviously aware of our performance issues; conversations and ambience like these would obviously just add to this. That's not to say that it isn't possible

You did remind me of something that I requested a while ago, though, which is good...will have to see who I can bug regarding it next week
