You mean to tell me with all of the crash dumps that you get on a daily basis you STILL can't pinpoint the cause of the CTDs? I find that to be a ridiculous claim. Not to mention, if you were to ACTUALLY READ through the threads on this board, you would find that there is a thread that actually RESOLVES a large percentage of the CTD issues for people, especially with higher-end nVidia cards (I.E. the 8800 and 7900 series cards). This should give you a FANTASTIC starting point in which to begin your code troubleshooting as the changes are EXPLICITLY outlined in the thread.
You will have to excuse me if I seem a frustrated; or not. I have been experiencing DOZENS of CTDs per day, depending on my amount of playing time, since DAY ONE. I have experienced DOZENS of deaths due to crashing and then my character, toon, or whatever you want to call it, goes running off into a nice area full of mobs making it in-retrievable safely unless I get it from an altar. I am not the only one with these experiences. NONE of your so called "fixes" have solved the problem for the largest percentage of us experiencing this problem. Yet you CONTINUE to add content and other crap to the game. Yeah, I know that they are separate teams. SO WHAT. You NEED to be allocating your resources to RESOLVING issues before adding content. Content is useless if nobody can play or you have people leaving BECAUSE the game is unplayable for them due to bugs. The fix in the thread worked for me. It got rid of most of my CTDs. I know, you're going to say it's my hardware or my OS. It's not. I've done fresh installs of XP Pro and XP Pro-64. All of my hardware is BRAND NEW. All of my hardware is on "each other's" hardware compatibility lists. It is not my system. I wish you and SoE would STOP telling EVERYONE that it is their system causing the problem.
US, as the payer community, should NOT have to FIGURE OUT workarounds for crap that is broken in the client. The CLIENT ITSELF is very broken. FIXING the largest of the BREAKAGES should be Sigil's NUMBER ONE priority, not adding content. Yeah, having additional content is nice. But a tthe end of the day it doesn't matter if you can't play long enough to actually enjoy it.
As it sits now, it appears that Sigil doesn't give a crap that their client is severely broken. All they appear to care about is that there is additional content for the people that live in the game and thus are level 50 have some place to play.
I own an 8800, I crash frequently as well, so trust me when I say that I am fully aware of the annoyance and frustration that can be caused. We are working on a permanent solution, I'm glad many have found work arounds to some of their problems.
We have already solved the problems for a majority of issues however, but we are continuously working on those that are remaining. We would fix these issues today if we could, there is absolutely no reason why we wouldn't.
And I cannot stress enough, that Game Designers are not Programmers, and not all design and not all programming do the same job, its inefficient and would lead to more problems if we made the entire company work on a single problem.
So I can totally understand why you're frustrated, and the fact is we're doing our best to correct the problems that are currently in game, some issues take time, so we thank you for your patience as we make progress everyday.
