<div id="post_message_18519">I think that there have been better adaptations done, and many of those better adaptations are series/miniseries. Granted, most of the examples I can think of were done by the BBC, but that still proves that it can be done.

One of the major problems that movies run into with adaptations is the difficulty of condensing (as well as conveying subtleties that are more easily conveyed in the written word, but while I think Song of Ice and Fire is a very complex and engaging read, it's not so subtle that I don't think it can be done). But TV shows don't have that problem.

The biggest problems that TV has are censorship and production cost. HBO, however, has neither of those problems. They've proven their willingness to show adult content (if not eagerness in the case of all the fully nude sex that takes place in Rome). While I do not think they will go so far as to showing Daenerys having sex unless they age her, I could see them pushing the bill by having suggestions of what is going to occur but then cutting out. In terms of production costs, HBO has the money to foot a high bill. Rome, again as an example, is absolutely opulent.
